Blessed to have parents, cousins, aunties and uncles who are so talented in the kitchen! Always love a home-cooked meal from them, especially when it’s the Filipino classics!
Today it’s all about the turon. My cousin cooked some for us the other day and it was a perfect afternoon merienda (snack). If you’ve never had it before, turon is a Filipino snack of banana and jackfruit enclosed in a thin spring roll wrapper. It is then fried and covered in caramelised sugar sort of like a banana fritter you would find in the Chinese restaurants but I like how the fruits are covered in a thin wrapper rather than thick batter.
