Mama Mondays – Starting off on the right foot

Bobux Melbourne launch attendees

Mr D, Little Miss H and I were among twenty-two adults and eighteen young cuties that spent a fun-filled morning with New Zealand footwear company, Bobux at their rebranding and launch event of their Play range of kids footwear. As you can imagine, with that many little ones running around and excited parents chatting away the Together Fit gym, the morning was alive with energy and buzz.

The moment we arrived Mr D just wanted to head straight to the refreshments and nutritious wholefoods catering by Heal.Thy Self Co as if he hadn’t just had breakfast. However as soon as he was fitted a pair of fresh new kicks from the Blaze range, he was ready for some play time. I gave Mr D the option to choose the colour #IWalkBlaze he wanted to get and without hesitation or even looking at the other colours, he went straight for the green high tops. Green is his favourite colour and the pair he picked were a vibrant green, with the pretty colours of pink and purple on the sides in the image of a finch.

p style=”text-align: center;”>IMG_9314Instead of face painting, he wanted a Monster Mutt monster truck painted on his hand.
Shoe fitting Bobux Melbourne relaunchBlaze Hi Finch BobuxHe’s been wearing these almost everyday since he got them!

His new pair of kicks are super comfortable and so stylish that I saw the lightness in his step as soon as he put them on! I was curious to find out more about the design after hearing Bobux representative Greg Parmenter speak about the Bobux brand, their values and research kids foot development. So I went on their website and found that the reasons why Mr D seemed more agile, speedy and stable on his feet!

– Super lightweight due to the flexible Tetraform rubber! It only weighs 92 grams per shoe so he is able to climb and run a lot more swiftly than before. No more limited coordination – more lightness and flexibility.

– Each shoe has an animal graphic on it which helps Mr D put them on the right way – he was always getting muddled up and putting his shoes on the wrong foot but now he knows the finch goes in the middle!

–  The extended micro armour toe cap means more abrasion resistance for more extreme play

p style=”text-align: center;”>- The custom tread on the Blaze shoes are inspired by Formula 1 tyre tread and designed for good grip on heel plant and toe drive (Mr D totally tested this out in the playground, zoo and playcentre. No trips or falls for him.)
IMG_9304 IMG_9303Hmmm I wish they came in adult sizes…his Blaze pair look a million times comfier than my pointy pumps!

There was a fun photobooth, gym equipment for the kids to play around with, friendly staff that helped out with any questions, amazing food and drinks and face painting! It was a great way to spend our weekday morning and being so close to the beach, we headed out to Williamstown afterwards because Mr D wanted to see the yachts and run along the pier.

p style=”text-align: center;”>Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored or expected, but seeing Daniel move so differently with them on made me think we’re on to a good thing here, why not share.

Style Saturdays – Watch this space

Daniel watch

Our little dude got a watch for Christmas from his Nanna and he insisted on wearing it everywhere. Daddy got one too, from Mummy. They both teamed up their new watches with blazers from Seed and Zara and I may be biased but I thought they looked quite the handsome duo!

Of course a monster truck is part of every outfit Daniel wears as he is always carrying one around – this time it was Northern Nightmare which was one of the presents he got from Santa for Christmas. He is so good at looking after his toys – he hasn’t lost one monster truck yet because he always seems to make sure that he puts them safe in the pram or in our bags when he’s out and about.

A good feed after outlet shopping at UniHill – Ziffano’s Seafood and Rissotto Bar¬†

Ziffano’s Seafood and Rissotto Bar
UniHill, 9 Janefield Drive, Bundoora

UniHill has always been a go to for us when outlet shopping. Wide aisles, a great range of brands and it just feels comfortable shopping there not having to fight the crowds for a parking spot or line up at the stores.

I’d only ever shopped there and not really checked out any of the cafes and shops on the outside of the centre but after a solid and fruitful shopping spree before Christmas, we were in need of some sustenance.

Ziffano’s with their lunch special, hit the spot. The steak and mash I ordered was good value and juicy, medium rare just how I like it. It was my first time eating steak after being pregnant so I was doubly excited! All the staff were attentive and served us promptly.¬† There was also enough room for all our shopping bags and our pram with seating both inside the cafe and outside.

If you’re looking for somewhere to take a break from all the fabulous bargains and enjoy a meal or drink, try Ziffano’s just outside opposite the Coles building.

If you missed some of our UniHill shopping hauls, you can find them here and here.

Style Saturdays – City sessions plus two lessons for Mummy!

Mama Mondays The Urban MA blog Everyday Style

Last¬†week¬†we went for a little trip into the city so that I could visit my work mates and introduce them to baby Hannah. Actually, the world “little” is so misleading¬†because even though it sounds like a simple day out, having a baby and a pre-schooler in tow totally doubles the amount of time it takes to do anything!

No wonder mums need to dress super comfy – breastfeeding, running around, dancing in the park and even just constantly being alert watching out for their safety is more than enough to get me sweaty and hot, even on a cool day

.It was such a pleasant lunch with my team members and leader until my little Miss H decided to produce the most biggest nappy explosion ever!…the icky stuff went EVERYWHERE and I could not find a disabled toilet or parents room anywhere nearby so I spent what felt like forever, crammed into the nearest and tiniest female toilets ever, bending over awkwardly, and changing Hannah in her pram. Wahhhhhh!

Poo was in her singlet, in her onesie, all over the blankets on her pram and I had forgotten her change mat in the car.

I wanted to CRY!!!!!

Thank goodness I had a spare¬†mini¬†pack of wet wipes in my bag and a spare plastic bag. There was so much mess and I didn’t think I’d ever get it all cleaned up…OMG it was the worst! In the end all I could do was laugh at myself because I could either do that or get really, really angry and annoyed but what good would that do?

Mama lesson #4 РAlways have a spare pack of wipes and spare plastic bags. In fact, just put wipes, tissues and plastic bags in every single bag you own, in the car and in the pram!

Mama lesson #5¬†– Don’t sweat the small stuff. Seriously, there’s no point! Just fix whatever needs fixing. Learn from it and get on with it.

Mama lesson #6¬†– This is totally random but after looking for cheap parking online before driving into the city, the cheapest I found was at Crown. I paid only $6 for the whole time we were out! Either that or catch the train but I didn’t want to take up space in the train with our pram in case we got caught in the peak hour rush!

The Urban Ma Christmas at Crown MelbourneSuper happy he is!: While I was having lunch with my work colleagues, Daniel and his aunty watched a movie at Melbourne Central before meeting back up with me and chilling out by the Yarra on our way back to the car

Hope you liked this post! Let me know if you know of anywhere else cheap to park in the city, or if you have any other #mamalessons you can bestow on this mama of only three years experience!

Thanks for dropping by! In case you missed the first three #mamalessons, you can find them in my previous post. What other tips can you give me? See you on Instagram or Twitter! ūüôā

Style Saturdays – Three years old and loving his threads

Styling Daniel The Urban Ma Pumpkin Patch

This little guy has just turned three and out of nowhere it feels like I have a grown up boy. From the most animated things he says to his current interest in flashcards and learning numbers, it feels like this past year has come to a close in no time.

This spunky little outfit Daniel wore the other weekend consists of items mostly from one of our friends which he got as a birthday present Рsuch cool taste! The top is something I can totally see our dance crew, Rewind, wearing as one of our costumes lol! Рit has these cool zips on both sides and is the long fitting type.

Daniel wears:

Black tee and shorts – both from Pumpkin Patch
Boots – Zara Kids (last year’s winter season, I think!)
Jacket – not sure where it’s from? It doesn’t say on the tag!

Style Saturdays – Lola and grandson’s day out in the city

The Urban MA blog Melbourne City

Trams, Christmas trees, coffee and Melbourne’s famous laneways. A wedding at the Grand Hyatt Hotel¬†prompted us to book a room and have an impromptu staycation in the most liveable city in the world.

With so many merry things to see and do (most of them free! – see my previous blog post here), Daniel and Lola’s (grandma in Filipino) outfits of the day were comfy and chic. A waterproof jacket just in case it started raining – Melbourne often experiences 4 seasons in a day, and a spare pair of flats for Lola to change in to after walking for hours takes a toll on her feet.

Styling Daniel waiting for the tramDaniel absolutely loves catching trains and trams!
