Junior Jamming with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Deakin Edge, Fed Square Melbourne
Working full time means that weekends are the days we get to take baby D out for some fun in the park, at the shops, in the backyard or at music jams. This term we’ve been enjoying Saturday mornings at Mini Maestros and last month the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra had their own jam session. Held at the gorgeous, 0pen space at Deakin Edge, Fed Square, 7 musicians and an engaging conductor took the kids through a musical journey. Suites from Peer Gynt were beautifully played right in front of us with the little ones getting in on the act shaking, clapping and dinging their percussion pieces!
The kids learnt how to use their castanets, tambourines, maracas, bells and triangles at different volumes and tempos and even got to stomp loud and strong for the finale number. Afterwards, the kids had a meet and greet with the musicians.
Such elegant music live for us to hear and be part of. I definitely would recommend this to all parents as a must-do activity to share with their kids. It is a free program however places have booked up fast so check out MSO’s website to put your name down for the wait list and for future events next year.
Daniel having a play with the french horn
We had a nice chat with the oboe player and even found out that this instrument cost her around fifty to sixty thousand dollars!
Daniel got startled by how loud the flute was able to be played!
We were shown how the snare drum worked
Out of all the things Daniel could’ve picked up, he chose the eggs!
Outfit of the day:
– beanie from Fred Bare Kids
– Bear jumper and skinny leg jeans by Target
– blue cardigan from Myer
– moccasins by Freshly Picked
Happy Days OOTD
Sunshine and the great outdoors. For the past few Sundays we’ve been enjoying time outside and the little one has been loving watching the birds, planes and helicopters fly past us up in the sky. He’s been loving playing with rocks and shouts out “DUCK” when he sees birds in the garden. Baby D also said his first three syllable word yesterday! – crocodile 🙂
Oh how fast they grow and I’m enjoying every minute of it. This week was a good week. Lots of naps, cuddles and play time. And a productive week work-wise, volunteer-wise and housework-wise 😉 One thing I do need to work on though is this blog. So many things coming up so hopefully I can get organised for you! In the meantime how was your week post-Easter? If you have a little one, what did he/she get up to this week?

– basic white onesie by Bonds

Late night shopping at Target
With the hubby and bubby in bed so early, I quickly snuck off to take advantage of the 20% off baby sale at Target and use my Target gift card from the other day’s goodie bag! Being around 8.50pm it was shopping bliss! I was there with a shopping list in hand as I can get distracted very easily.
I always do a little happy dance when I scan the price of something and it comes in lower than the sale sticker. In this case it was a couple of plain boys’ tops that scanned in at $1! Score! I bought a heap of Bonds pieces for Baby D as I love using Bonds pieces to style his comfy outfits. I also thought I’d spring clean up our room with some new bedsheets. Oh and I also bought mascara for $4.50 but I forgot to include it in the pics below.
What are some of the things you love to shop for at Target?
Baby D wears a Bonds Bomber Jacket, Stussy beanie, Fresh Baked tee, ABCD shorts, Adidas kicks
Seed beanie, Sprout top, Next cardigan, Bonds leggings, Next baby booties
