Junior Jamming with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Deakin Edge, Fed Square Melbourne
Working full time means that weekends are the days we get to take baby D out for some fun in the park, at the shops, in the backyard or at music jams. This term we’ve been enjoying Saturday mornings at Mini Maestros and last month the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra had their own jam session. Held at the gorgeous, 0pen space at Deakin Edge, Fed Square, 7 musicians and an engaging conductor took the kids through a musical journey. Suites from Peer Gynt were beautifully played right in front of us with the little ones getting in on the act shaking, clapping and dinging their percussion pieces!
The kids learnt how to use their castanets, tambourines, maracas, bells and triangles at different volumes and tempos and even got to stomp loud and strong for the finale number. Afterwards, the kids had a meet and greet with the musicians.
Such elegant music live for us to hear and be part of. I definitely would recommend this to all parents as a must-do activity to share with their kids. It is a free program however places have booked up fast so check out MSO’s website to put your name down for the wait list and for future events next year.
Daniel having a play with the french horn
We had a nice chat with the oboe player and even found out that this instrument cost her around fifty to sixty thousand dollars!
Daniel got startled by how loud the flute was able to be played!
We were shown how the snare drum worked
Out of all the things Daniel could’ve picked up, he chose the eggs!
Outfit of the day:

– Bear jumper and skinny leg jeans by Target
– blue cardigan from Myer

Totally different to last week’s Saturday Styling post, this week Baby D dressed it up a little for a special occasion. With our little baby turning one recently, he was so blessed to be surrounded by such loving and amazing family and friends who have showered him with an abundance of cuddles, kisses and love over the past 12 months. Baby D also received such cute clothes from his birthday party and today he wore this combo to his aunty and uncle’s baby shower! I absolutely love the pattern of Baby D’s shirt! – so retro and such a good fit!

Daddy’s outfit details and latest shopping haul coming up this week!
After spending the whole day home vacuuming, mopping, dusting and doing the laundry, we headed out with Daddy to his photo shoot for a change of scenery. Baby D decided to get in on the action by wearing some of his birthday gifts he received for his big first birthday celebration last weekend! Love everything from the warm quilted jacket, to the detailed turntable tee to the uber cool Jordans (thank you godparents!). Thanks to Melbourne’s moody weather we get to rock some of Baby’s new threads and this warm combo took us from the cozy studio setting to the crisp air at Yarraville Gardens where we had Dude Food van’s burgers for the first time.
