Saturday Styling

Totally different to last week’s Saturday Styling post, this week Baby D dressed it up a little for a special occasion. With our little baby turning one recently, he was so blessed to be surrounded by such loving and amazing family and friends who have showered him with an abundance of cuddles, kisses and love over the past 12 months. Baby D also received such cute clothes from his birthday party and today he wore this combo to his aunty and uncle’s baby shower! I absolutely love the pattern of Baby D’s shirt! – so retro and such a good fit!

Crushing on Gok

Target Style Ambassador Gok Wan at The Point Albert Park
Aquatic Drive, Albert Park Lake

The first week of spring in Melbourne is here and I started it off by having a drink or two at a The Point situated on the iconic Albert Park lake. With the sun shining and sailboats gliding across the water I was thrilled to be spending the afternoon with fellow bloggers and Target’s bold and beautiful style ambassador Gok Wan.

Gok has had a highly successful series of tv shows, a fabulous cookbook and many other achievements including filming documentaries like “Too Fat, Too Young” to increase awareness of a range of issues in our society. It’s so great to see Target teaming up with such a positive and vibrant personality.

Target on trend

During the event we were taken through the new lines for Target’s Hot Options, Free Fusion and MAXX by Target’s buyers and designers. You’d be pleased to hear that within the coming months whilst still providing awesome bargains and great quality pieces, Target will be focusing on providing us with more fashion driven, on-trend pieces straight from the catwalk. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. This iconic, Australian department store will truly be the place where everyone person who walks in will walk away with a must-have!

Gok’s Top 5 Must-Haves

Speaking of must-haves, Gok described his top 5 as:

1) straight leg indigo jeans with a slight lean to western
2) a classic twill, good quality white shirt
3) a good pair of flats
4) a disconnected, deconstructed type blazer that you can dress up or down depending on the occasion and,
5) a good pair of 7/8’s i.e. between a capri and cigarette type bottom

I loved how Gok put so much detail and description into every topic he spoke about. This guy knows his stuff. Having achieved so much and being so good at what he does, I think for many, Gok is most well-known as the person that allows people to see their body in a more positive light, helping build their confidence in their self image. What a perfect ambassador for Target! I am so thrilled I had the chance to spend the afternoon with him. Next blog post will be my shopping haul so stay tuned! Meanwhile below are some of my picks from Target’s online store based on Gok’s must-haves – can you tell that I love black and white?

2013 Shopper of the Year event

IMG_0238 IMG_0242 IMG_0244 IMG_0249IMG_0247IMG_0209

A fun day out at DFO – 2013 Shopper of the Year!

The other day 50 of us set out on a challenge set by DFO and Shop Til You Drop magazine to find Australia’s most fashionable bargain hunter. We were given $200 and 45 minutes to shop for an entire outfit, top to bottom, including footwear and accessories. DFO Essendon was our venue with Lotta from Cosmopolitan Australia and Amanda from NW Magazine Australia being the 2 judges of the day. Their job was to pick 2 finalists out of the 50 of us to compete for the ultimate prize of $5000 and the title of the 2013 Shopper of the Year! I’m looking forward to seeing the winners from the other DFO outlets!

45 minutes is not a lot of time to put together a whole look so it was a real challenge rushing from store to store and getting ready along the way to be all done up for the final showcase! I had already been eyeing a black winter coat from Glassons and a black bag from Marcs. I had to get the rest of the outfit on such a tight budget because of those two items that I really wanted. Luckily I found a dress in Glassons for only $10 and its wrap neckline perfect for breastfeeding! All in all it was such a fun day and I bought pieces that I knew I would definitely use over and over again 🙂 Thank you to DFO Essendon and Shop Til You Drop magazine for the opportunity and the goodie bags! – got excited about the cute little Nutella jar!

Here’s a breakdown of what I bought and how much the total was. I actually had $6 left!! If only I had enough time to rush to the baby stores to get Baby D a onesie I would’ve used the $200 to buy 2 outfits ;P

1) Glassons Black Biker Jacket – was $139 down to $70

2) Marcs Black Nikki Pouch – was $149 down to $79

3) Winsdor Smith nude studded heel – down to $25

4) Glassons Maroon wrap dress – down to $10

5) Just Jeans ring and tassle necklace – 2 for $10

Total: $194

I thought I went pretty well 🙂 How would you spend the $200 to style a new outfit?

Autumn Days

Autumn Days IMG_0066IMG_0051 IMG_0054IMG_0069IMG_0063Forever New Cape and hood coat, H&M t-shirt dress, Target scarf, Platinum No Waist Shaper Opaque stockings, Target flats

With such cool weather gracing Melbourne lately, I had to borrow my little sister’s gorgeous mustard colored coat with a nice big hood. It makes me feel like Little Red Riding Hood when I wear it and it is so warm! It’s surprisingly a size 16 but it was the only one left and totally worth purchasing. I feel so cozy when I’m wearing it, like I’m wrapped up in a nice big blanket as I walk around the city. As it is big and roomy, I always try to team it up with light, fitted bottoms or tops so that I don’t look too bulky. As the autumn leaves all and winter sets in, this standout coat brightens up even the grayest of days.

A Perfect Fit – OOTD

IMG_9607 IMG_9608 IMG_9606IMG_9591

Zara jumper, TopMan jeans and boots, H&M scarf. Mummy and son joining in on the action 😛 Baby wears Bonds jacket and bottoms, Converse booties, Carter’s striped onesie, H&M cardigan, Cotton On singlet, Supre jeans.

A good fit goes a long way. I love how these jeans are slim cut without looking like jeggings ;P and the fitted knit paired with a scarf gives off a nice put-together look. Comfy and smart casual.

Weekend Wear

Zara, jacket, H&M scarf, Zara knit, H&M dropcrotch pants, Michael Kors watch, thrifted sunnies

For the transition from summer to autumn and to help keep up with the infamous Melbourne weather, a scarf and drape jacket does the trick. Comfortable, unassuming and put together. Love this look that the better half wore last weekend when the sun shone, the rain fell and the wind blew all in one day.

My first LOL! :D

OOTD: stripey vest, white singlet and soft denim-like shorts – all presents from Mummy & Daddy’s wonderful friends!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Ok, so Mummy sounds really stressed today because her & Daddy are talking about taking me to the doctor for my first immunisationvisit, whatever that means? Mummy sounds like she does not want to go to the appointment with Daddy and me but I really hope she comes! Whatever it is it can’t be that bad, can it? I’ll have to update you all later when I find out exactly what is going on! I also have some photos for you from Christmas Eve and Day! I’ll upload those later too!

Meanwhile today was the first time I… LOL’d!! – laughed out loud!!! Heheheh! Mummy and Daddy were SUPER excited!! I am glad I can make them happy and smiley because I have been crying a bit lately. It’s only because I have been so very tired from all the lunches and dinners we’ve been attending. I love going out though and meeting everyone so I will just have to get used to  it hey?! Ok we are running late for our appointment so I should go now! By the way do you like my outfit of the day? #ootd I do! It is super comfy! 🙂
