Cousin catch up at new burger joint in Melbourne’s West

St Burg's burgers Durger & Fried chicken Mushroom burger from St Burg's The Urban Ma

New burger joint in Maribyrnong – St Burg’s
41-45 Edgewater Boulevard, Maribyrnong

We have a friends and family that live all over Melbourne and one thing that brings us all together is of course food! With so many freeways providing easy access from the eastside to the west, we met up with our cousins for burgers at a newly opened burger joint St Burg’s. St Burg’s is located in the high density housing area of Edgewater in Maribyrnong on the ground floor of one of the apartments blocks.

It was last Saturday during lunchtime and we managed to snag one of the high bar tables for the 10 of us! There was a grassy area at the front for the two little toddlers to run around on while we waited for our burgers to arrive.

We ordered:

– the Durger, Australian grass-fed beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, gherkin relish, Durger mayo and smokey sauce
– the St Shroom, cheese stuffed field mushroom, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, gherkin relish, Durger mayo and smokey sauce (I ordered this one because I was so full from the night before eating way too much meat. The mushroom was huge! It was so saucy and that melted cheese…yesssss!!!)
– a salted caramel milkshake (OMG this was so yummy that Duncs ordered two!)
– Mama Lui’s wingette’s, special fried chicken wingette’s with a side of slaw (Loved the wings, so moreish!)

The Details:

Make sure you order two milkshakes in case you finish your first one before your burgers come! It’s hard to find parking so the easiest thing would be to park near Aldi and just walk down. There are also no toilets – my pregnant sister-in-law had to walk back up the hill into another restaurant that let her use theirs. There’s a great little playground just a few minutes walk from St Burg’s that had the perfect sized playground equipment for our two little ones. They were there for ages running around and playing on the slides and bridges.

For more westside burgers, check out this place next time you’re in the area 🙂

Tantalizing Tuesdays – Smashed that burger!

Rockwell and Sons – 288 Smith Street, Collingwood

We spent last Monday night getting smashed. And no, not smashed with alcohol – I’m still currently trying to wean the little one! I meant we had our first taste of the infamous Double Patty Smash burger from Rockwell and Sons. Thanks to some friends who have become regulars at this Smith street burger bar, we were introduced to this good old  soul food in the best way possible – a tasting menu!
Before we even started, the chilli roasted pumpkin seeds hinted great things to come. Every dish was served to us by polished yet welcoming and friendly staff and I am already planning my next trip back here! I am drooling over these photos as I upload them so enjoy tonight’s food porn!
The burger and crispy confit duck wings were my favs and we were so full that in order to fit in dessert we decided to go for a walk down to N2. A perfect night of “cheat day” eating!

X.S Linda from toastybiscuit.com gave us these little parcels of caramel goodness for the ride home! I must try this recipe!!!
