Love never fails

 Friendship and coffee in Hoppers

20 years ago was when it started. A friendship between high school friends going through everything from the deb ball, VCE exams, uni, finding ourselves and our first jobs, through to 21sts, engagements, weddings, and now babies. It only seems fitting then that along a row of shops across the station back in the suburb we met in high school stands Corinthians.

You’re probably well acquainted with the verses from Corinthians as it is the most popular reading recited at weddings. And as much as it can get repetitve hearing it over and over again, I guess it’s so popular because people can relate. “Love never fails“. And I am so grateful for the love that I have experienced between a group of girls I met several kms down the road from this cute little cafe.

A friend and I caught up for lunch on a cruisey weekday afternoon enjoying good coffee with a mushroom burger and risotto. We even got a take away coffee for another friend who couldn’t join us so we took it to her work – how’s that for a personalized delivery service 🙂 And thank goodness for midweek catchups, this  – yayyy for parental leave and flexible workplace arrangements!

Even though everyone has moved and we don’t live as close to each other, I love every catch up that we have as I always learn something new, always feel at ease and relaxed, and always leave having so much gratitude for everything we are blessed with.

#itsthesimplethings. Really!

Where Love Begins

Reflection for this week

Where love begins
It’s easy to love at a distance,
but not so easy to love at close quarters.
It’s easier to give a few pounds to relieve famine in Africa
than to relieve the loneliness of someone living next door.
It’s easy to love people who are far away,
but not always easy to love those who are close at hand.
Yet, these are the people Christ asks us to love.
We must begin by loving the people near us.
That is where our love must start.
But, of course, it doesn’t have to end there.
And it shouldn’t.

love

The above reflection topic is for the readings John 13:31-33A, 34-35:

When Judas had left them, Jesus said,
“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is
glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will
also glorify him in himself, and God will glorify him
at once. My children, I will be with you only a little
while longer. I give you a new commandment:
love one another. As I have loved you, so you also
should love one another. This is how all will know
that you are my disciples, if you have love for one
another.”

My weekend in pictures

FridayWestbournians 2012 funnyfriends

Everybody loves Fridays and last Friday was extra special as my high school friends and I got our kids all together for the first time! It was so beautiful to see that even after all these years and no matter how different and busy our lives are, our friendship remains strong <3

Saturdayhealthy brekkieElephant bum

After such a fun Friday with all the kids, it was heart-wrenching to wake up to the news of what happened in Newtown… Saturday was a write-off. I held bubba all day.  Hubby was away for the whole weekend on a Bucks weekend. Daniel, my sister and I caught up on sleep! Being so close to Christmas it felt good to actually just slow down and reflect  instead of rushing around. I took a picture of my brekkie because hubby and I have been so addicted to it lately! – a bowlful of Special K, blueberries, banana topped with chia seeds. It is soooo tasty and a little inspired by Anna!

SundayMommy rocks bibIMG_0378PortmansChadstoneAffogatochillin with daddy

On Sunday Daniel wore his onesie shirt from Next that I posted in an earlier post…so cute!! He attended his first party – Aiyah’s christening 🙂 Then we picked up daddy from the east side and stopped by Chadstone whilst we were there to have a coffee and people-watch. It was nice to just sit and chill whilst everyone else rushed around! Daniel was enjoying it because lately he is much more aware of his surroundings and wants to know everything that’s going on around him! I found a really nice pair a pants from Portmans but because Daniel wanted to go home I didn’t get to buy them 🙁 …so I bought them the next day from Highpoint! 😛

How did you spend your 2nd last weekend before Christmas?
