Style Saturdays – Brights

Hannah in Bonds and Big W

Loving this super bright patterned Bonds singlet! It captures perfectly how happy I feel when I see these two starting to interact with each other more and more each day . So in love with our little minis.

Style Saturday – Easy Halloween costumes for kids

Today after his swimming lesson Mr D went out trick or treating with his cousin Madison from Her Lust Palette blog. Watergardens Shopping Centre always seems to have lots of fun activities planned for the young ones and today they had organised a centre-wide trick or treating special where they filled their free pumpkin bags with lots of goodies!

Mr D is wearing an easy kids costume from Kmart which was only $9! This doctor costume was a little big for our little man especially the bottoms, so luckily he had a pair of blue pants that he wore instead! I’m not really a fan of the whole halloween thing but seeing Mr D and his cousin so excited all dressed up and joining in the festivities had me won over – anything that puts a smile on our boy’s face 🙂

Saturday Style – Monster suit playtime

Monster Suit Playtime with Mr D

This week’s Saturday Style post is a flashback from last May where a surprise party was organised for my brother by Her Lust Palette. It was held in the Gold Coast coast in an amazing two-storey rental and there was a whole group of us that flew up for the special celebration.

The weather in May on the Gold Coast was not too hot and not too cold and this onesie number we packed for Mr D was worn a lot! Great for running around and tumbling in, and an easy outfit for quick changes into swimwear for the beach.

This onesie has also doubled as a Halloween costume for Mr D’s Halloween Disco last year! He got it as a present – perfect for 1-2 year olds!

Saturday Style – Date night at the theatre

Saturday Style – Date night at the theatre

Every now and then we get to squeeze in a date night straight after work. On this occasion we went to see the King and I (see post here). We had a quick meal of steaming hot xiao long bao dumplings from Shanghai Street before we made it into the theatre ready to watch the show.

This comfy outfit I work to work transitioned easily into the night and was comfortable enough to wear throughout the entire day.

I wore:

a polka dot top with a bow at the back Zara

black fitted jacket from Topshop

Navy blue pants from Forever New (I love the fit of these so much I also bought them in black and orange!)

Heels from Myer (I remember I bought these around 10 years ago when I got a new role leading a team of 25 people! My feet were so sore the first day I wore them but as I broke them in they became easier to walk in and now are one of the more comfier heels I own!)

Longchamp handbag

We ducked out during intermission for some good coffee and a little browse of the cute little store next door, the Spring Street Grocer.

Style Saturdays – Daniel struts

I love the bond these two have shared since Baby D used to kick Daddy from inside my tummy at three, four or even five in the morning! Daddy would come home from his dj club gigs in the wee hours of the morning  and as soon as he came through the bedroom door, my tummy would be poking to the side with Baby D would be in a flurry of action – as if to say “Hi Daddy, glad your home! Come play with me!

Two years later not only do they share a love for food, playtime and riding bikes, Daddy and Daniel seem to share the same sense of laid-back, casual but gorgeous style. Above is a pic of them in the summer months with their sunnies and shorts.

Daniel wears a t-shirt and sandals from Target, shorts from Zara and sunnies from Cotton On Kids.

Saturday Styling – Cozy in our winter knits

Winter warmers OOTD

This photo was taken on Mothers Day 🙂 Even though it’s only autumn, Melbourne has truly embraced the cooler seasons with so many days already being cold enough to really rug up with not just layers, but thick layers.

Chunky winter knits and comfy boots are our pick f

or the winter months this year and here’s what the family and I are loving right now.

Master D wears:
– blue shirt and knitted sweater from H&M
– Bottoms from Rhubard
– Converse All Stars from Platypus

Ma wears:
– black singlet from Cotton On (this has lasted me ages and still shows no signs of pilling! – great bargain buy!)
– black leggings from Cotton On Body
– chunky, cozy, warm, winter knit from Valley Girl, Emporium
– comfy ankle boots from Spendless

Mummy Mondays – Junior Jamming

Junior Jamming with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Deakin Edge, Fed Square Melbourne

Working full time means that weekends are the days we get to take baby D out for some fun in the park, at the shops, in the backyard or at music jams. This term we’ve been enjoying Saturday mornings at Mini Maestros and last month the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra had their own jam session. Held at the gorgeous, 0pen space at Deakin Edge, Fed Square, 7 musicians and an engaging conductor took the kids through a musical journey. Suites from Peer Gynt were beautifully played right in front of us with the little ones getting in on the act shaking, clapping and dinging their percussion pieces!

The kids learnt how to use their castanets, tambourines, maracas, bells and triangles at different volumes and tempos and even got to stomp loud and strong for the finale number. Afterwards, the kids had a meet and greet with the musicians.

Such elegant music live for us to hear and be part of. I definitely would recommend this to all parents as a must-do activity to share with their kids. It is a free program however places have booked up fast so check out MSO’s website to put your name down for the wait list and for future events next year.
