Life Lately #5 – Springtime sunshine

anniversary roses The Urban MaIMG_0890

You wouldn’t have picked it from today’s rainy antics but along with the glistening rain, we’ve also already been able to enjoy quite a few days of glorious sunshine here in Melbourne as spring returns. As usual we did a lot of eating, playing and exploring and I also got to meet and catch up with some fellow Melbourne bloggers.  Lately I’ve also gotten the hang of making sure I purposefully close off some days on my calendar so I can just breathe and just…be! Instead of saying yes to every single thing, I have been able to say no leaving me more time to spend doing things I really like. My little Baby D has also recently been sick with his first real cold and this, plus his teething had me suffering from sleep deprivation and exhaustion. Thankfully Baby D has gotten back into the swing of things and is now sleeping quite well again.

Here are some things we got up to in the recent weeks!:

– 1st birthdays galore (post coming up soon on our friend’s dress up party!),
– bloggers events see here, here and here,
Culture Mamas Go Go dancing event (so much fun and I was sweating by the end of it!),
– eating out (Flower Drum, Trailer Park food trucks, Lil Nomnoms food truck, the Winter night market at Vic Market, truffles in Footscray at Guerilla Espresso), Burger Culture)
– also tried cooking pho at home for the first time but I think next time I’ll use stock to lift the flavour a little more!
– attended the open day at Passion Dance Studio and did a KPop dance class!
– celebrated our wedding anniversary and finally got to try Mamasita (we were baby-free for the night, hence the opportunity to wait in line for places that don’t take bookings)
– attended the launch night of council Leadership Alumni and had a lovely night networking with people passionate about making a difference in the community
– attended a Motivating Mum and SheSays event (I love meeting and learning from an array of motivated individuals),
– lots of family time and celebrating Wes’ first fathers day!
– took the dogs to Lort Smith Animal Hospital for a check up (two dogs and a baby in one car equals headache!!)
– did a “little” bit of shopping! (see post here, here and here)
– watched Baby D grow more confident in standing on his own, clapping his hands , pointing to objects we ask about and listened to him turn into a lovely little chatterbox! 🙂

So thankful for life’s everyday blessings -xx-

What everyday blessings are you thankful for?

UniHill Factory Outlets – Janefield Drive, Bundoora
Open 7 days 10am-6pm www.uhfo.com.au

I can’t believe I hadn’t visited this factory outlet til recently! Thanks to UniHill’s bloggers event held last week I was finally able to make it down to Bundoora to check out all the bargains just in time for Fathers Day! The UniHill Factory Outlet was just over 30 minutes drive from the city and situated right off the freeway exit off Plenty rd. I didn’t realise it was that close! Unlike some of the other factory outlets, UniHill has both the retail & eateries and grocery side of things covered so after my little Father’s Day shopping trip, I was also able to get some groceries bought all before heading home.

With up to 70% off fragrances and cosmetics all year long my first stop was Cosmetic Fragrance Direct. Store manager Emma gave such an awesome and detailed run through of some of the top men’s fragrances that I was able to smell the individual top notes and middle notes as she specified them! It was such a nose-opener having someone there to go through the gorgeous scents with such precision.

perfume

Here were some of Emma’s top picks with my fav being the Dolce & Gabbana Sport as its scent makes me think of an active, sporty man who loves to keep fit and toned! 😉

Versace Eros 50ml for $76 – a vibrant fresh scent that mixes both woody and oriental tones of amber, geranium flower and vanilla.
Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men (Sport) 100ml for $75 – watery top notes of grapefruit blended with rosemary and cardamon produce an energetic feel to this scent.
Rochas Man 100ml for $59 – coffee, lavender, amber and sandalwood create a sweet but masculine fragrance.

Cosmetics Fragrance Direct has something for everyone from discount perfumes to lipsticks, nail polish and beauty items.

Testers were readily available for all the perfumes making it easy for me to find the ones I liked!IMG_9854

I loved how Cosmetics Fragrance Direct had labels on their testers outlining in detail what each scent was made of.

For the dad who loves video games, I asked EB Games for their top picks and bestsellers. Below are some of the best sellers! I like watching the better half play God of War as it has plenty of puzzles and problem solving obstacles to overcome.

How cool is this clear mini basketball ring and ball!? Dads could put it up in the office to keep them awake and energized especially when 3.30-itis is looming!

I found this wallet from Strandbags that would be a practical and useful pressie for the grandads.

With spring just around the corner, some comfy shorts and polo shirts and casual footwear would get dad all ready to enjoy the warmer weather whilst spending quality time sporting around with the kiddies. I got so excited to see a Platypus outlet store at UniHill and there were some really good sales for both adults and kids shoes!

Of course there was no way I could visit all these stores and walk past their discounted goodies without having a look for myself and Baby D – how cute are these tiny Adidas kicks!!? 😀

I stopped by Capz to find some cool head gear and also shopped up a storm at Melbourne’s largest Nike Factory store! I also found beautiful DIY inspiration and products at the Kaisercraft store. Sarah and the Unihill Kaisercraft girls run workshops and kids creativity parties there with a card making class being run on Sunday September 1st so click here to book your place.

My last stop saw me filling a whole bag full of letters, stamps and prints for $5 at Typo before resting my feet whilst sipping coffee at Degani Bakery Cafe.

With nice wide walkways and a large, clean baby change room, my first trip to UniHill Factory Outlets will definitely not be my last. Head on over there for some last minute Fathers Day gift shopping. Politix, Aquila, Tarocash, Gloweave, Stafford Direct, Cotton On, Factorie, Espirit and Man to Man are some of fantastic retailers situated at UniHill. With friendly and helpful staff you are sure to find something to suit your man, the occasion and your budget!

Besides lots of love, hugs and kisses, what will you be giving your dad this Fathers Day?

Autumn Days

Autumn Days IMG_0066IMG_0051 IMG_0054IMG_0069IMG_0063Forever New Cape and hood coat, H&M t-shirt dress, Target scarf, Platinum No Waist Shaper Opaque stockings, Target flats

With such cool weather gracing Melbourne lately, I had to borrow my little sister’s gorgeous mustard colored coat with a nice big hood. It makes me feel like Little Red Riding Hood when I wear it and it is so warm! It’s surprisingly a size 16 but it was the only one left and totally worth purchasing. I feel so cozy when I’m wearing it, like I’m wrapped up in a nice big blanket as I walk around the city. As it is big and roomy, I always try to team it up with light, fitted bottoms or tops so that I don’t look too bulky. As the autumn leaves all and winter sets in, this standout coat brightens up even the grayest of days.

Backseat Selfies

Mummy selfiePooface Daniel with Santa

Last, last week mummy and daddy took me to get my first ever photo with Santa. Mummy seemed to be very happy with daddy’s workplace for organising free Santa photos for staff members and their children! Daddy seemed very proud too! I met daddy’s boss and she was really lovely and kind!

On the way to daddy’s work mummy and I got busy taking selfies while daddy made his way through the morning Westgate traffic. Mummy kept taking photos of me as she thought I was making some “Zoolander” face? I’ve never heard of such a thing as “Blue Steel” – I was merely doing my poo’s. Mummy seemed to love it though so I kept it up for her lol!! I thought she was making me rehearse for my photoshoot with Santa but when we got there it was just the normal front portrait shot – no posing or fancy lighting or action shots…so here you see they got me whilst yawning! 😀

I hope you are all having fun preparing for Christmas and enjoying spending time with your families! Go easy in the shopping centres when present shopping and don’t forget to watch out for the mummies with prams!! – if it gets too much of  hassle to shop with us babies then they might leave us at home! 😉

Travel Tuesdays – The Grove LA

The Cheesecake Factory, California Cheesesteak, Caesar salad, Farmer’s Market.

The Grove

The Cheesecake Factory at the Grove was where I had my first meal in LA. The servings were huge as expected and my California Cheesesteak was tasty and so filling! It was a nice sunny day as we ventured out in the Grove and the first place we stopped was Forever21 for some shopping. After a taste of how much cheaper the shopping was here, our next stop was Melrose Avenue!

Next baby fashion haul

Happy Black Friday to my American followers!

I wish we had the same huge bargains here Down Under. Since we don’t, I thought I’d share my first online shopping purchase for baby clothing!

I think that the baby clothing at Next is super cute and I have spent countless hours window-online-shopping since a friend  told me about their clothing a few weeks ago. It did not take me long to pick out a few items that I wanted to purchase – I wanted to start off small just to test out their services. I was so happy with Next’s prompt, free delivery – I received my package in no time! I have found onesies to be the most easiest piece of baby clothing to put onto a newborn so I bought 4 onesies in different styles! I cant wait for baby into these!

What are your favourite baby online stores?
