Trams, Christmas trees, coffee and Melbourne’s famous laneways. A wedding at the Grand Hyatt Hotel prompted us to book a room and have an impromptu staycation in the most liveable city in the world.
With so many merry things to see and do (most of them free! – see my previous blog post here), Daniel and Lola’s (grandma in Filipino) outfits of the day were comfy and chic. A waterproof jacket just in case it started raining – Melbourne often experiences 4 seasons in a day, and a spare pair of flats for Lola to change in to after walking for hours takes a toll on her feet.
Daniel absolutely loves catching trains and trams!

Style Saturday – Easy Halloween costumes for kids
Today after his swimming lesson Mr D went out trick or treating with his cousin Madison from Her Lust Palette blog. Watergardens Shopping Centre always seems to have lots of fun activities planned for the young ones and today they had organised a centre-wide trick or treating special where they filled their free pumpkin bags with lots of goodies!
Mr D is wearing an easy kids costume from Kmart which was only $9! This doctor costume was a little big for our little man especially the bottoms, so luckily he had a pair of blue pants that he wore instead! I’m not really a fan of the whole halloween thing but seeing Mr D and his cousin so excited all dressed up and joining in the festivities had me won over – anything that puts a smile on our boy’s face 🙂
Saturday Style – Matchy-matchy with my little man
It was a last minute decision to go along with the family to Buxton Trout Farm and with a long drive and day ahead of us, Mr D and I got dressed into our comfy new stripey tees! Armed with suncreen, caps and sunnies we had a great day out and loved running around playing with our cousins.
– Custom made Rewind cap
– Vertical striped boyfriend tee from Miss Shop
– Leggings from Bonds
– Denim shirt (around waist) from Forever 21
– Nike trainers
– Cap from Target
– Vertical striped long sleeved top from Pumpkin Patch
– Red bottoms also from Pumpkin Patch
– Converse kids
316 Maroondah Highway, Healesville
On the way home from the trout farm we stopped by Beechworth Bakery in Healesville for a light dinner – we were so full from all the fresh fish we ate!
They were closing up and we were lucky to get there just in time to order some pies, coffee and cakes. I ordered a beesting, a Beechworth pie and some peppermint tea. The pie was ok but the beesting was delish! I took one home for the sick hubby as a treat 🙂
The cafe was spacious and even had an outdoor area around the back with some picnic tables and benches. There were couches inside next to a couple of fireplaces and high chairs available for those needing them. I’d like to visit the original one in Beechworth that was established in 1984.
I love the bond these two have shared since Baby D used to kick Daddy from inside my tummy at three, four or even five in the morning! Daddy would come home from his dj club gigs in the wee hours of the morning and as soon as he came through the bedroom door, my tummy would be poking to the side with Baby D would be in a flurry of action – as if to say “Hi Daddy, glad your home! Come play with me!
Two years later not only do they share a love for food, playtime and riding bikes, Daddy and Daniel seem to share the same sense of laid-back, casual but gorgeous style. Above is a pic of them in the summer months with their sunnies and shorts.
Daniel wears a t-shirt and sandals from Target, shorts from Zara and sunnies from Cotton On Kids.
D loves his fruits!
Trying to do the peace sign lol!
