dish’d Food Store – 31 Izett St, Prahran, Melbourne
www.dish.com.au – Frozen cuisine delivery

The delivery of this big, white box this week was a godsend. With Christmas planning, shopping and decoration duties in full swing and the work year coming to a close, there was nothing more tiring I could think of doing than having to stop past the local grocery store in search for something to eat for dinner, and get home only to start chopping, marinating and prepping the table for an evening meal that’s not only tasty but nutritious.

I don’t know about you but after a long day at work during this festive season I just want to come home, get cuddles and put my feet up. So when we were invited by the team at Nuffnang and dish’d to try out the dish’d home delivery service I immediately jumped at the chance to taste their cuisine and spend more time relaxing with my family.

“Enjoying great food with friends and family is a joy, and one we want to help you share often and effortlessly, by providing you delicious meals, ready when you are.” – dish’d

The dish’d website was well laid out and easy to navigate and the only problem the hubby had was deciding what to order since everything looked so amazing. This may be attributed to that fact that the creators of dish’d are passionate about making quality dishes for time-poor food lovers.

Our package was delivered at 1pm and by the time I got home the hubby had prepared some mash and veggies to go along with the vegetarian cones and the premium steak cuts we ordered. We were all extremely impressed with the quality and presentation and will definitely be trying out more items in the following weeks! With such perfect looking dishes on the website, we were pleasantly surprised that they were also reasonably priced…I think someone has a new favorite online store! 🙂

Discovering Burger Culture in Williamstown

Burger Culture burgerIMG_1193

Burger Culture – 3 Cole street, Williamstown

After an original plan was thwarted by the newly opened cafe being closed, Consider the Sauce’s Kenny, took me an old favourite of his, Burger Culture. Check out Kenny’s take on Burger Culture here! What a nice surprise – a bright, cheery atmostphere (or maybe that was Melbourne’s gorgeous spring sunshine coming through) and such great value burgers. As we approached Burger Culture I could already feel the busy buzz and we took our seats outside so as to accommodate Baby D and his pram.

I ordered the Yankee Culture burger and it was bursting with flavour from the mustard, pickles and tasty cheese melted all over the beef pattie. With a side of chips and a can all for under $12, Kenny and I were winning! 🙂 Such great value for the quality and taste!  We didn’t have to wait too long for our orders either! Will definitely be back here soon as the other half loves his burgers and I can’t wait for him to try these!

Have you tried a Burger Culture burger? Which one should I try on my next visit!? Suggest a burger below 🙂

Have a great week everyone!

Food truck Saturday – Lil Nomnoms & Banh Mi Boys, Yarraville.

It seems that it’s becoming a fun Saturday tradition – food trucking with friends and a play in the park! My past three Saturdays in a row have been something like this: wake up and have a quick breakfast of cereal or toast, vacuum, mop and clean the house and once all of that is done, we drive to the park for some lunch and fun times at the playground!

If you missed out last week, head down to Yarraville this Saturday (24.08.13) to taste the fresh flavours of the latest food truck to join Melbourne’s scene , Lil Nomnoms.

Last weekend we were lucky enough to visit both Lil Nomnoms and Banh Mi Boys on opposite ends of the Yarraville Gardens and boy were their rolls and steamed baos amazing! We got to taste nearly everything on both menus as we came with a group of friends! Lil Nomnoms has a a value meal deal where you can taste everything on their menu for $15! Hopefully the bar is open tomorrow otherwise make sure you bring your own drink just in case.

My favs were the corn fritter Bangin’ Banh Mi from the Banh Mi Boys and the braised pork belly steamed bao from Lil Nomnoms.  After waiting a while for our food we enjoyed the good company and fun with the playground equipment. I can’t wait until the weather gets warmer, it’ll be a much loved Saturday tradition – food trucks and playgrounds!

What food trucks and/or playgrounds have you visited lately? Any suggestions on other kid-friendly places to eat are always welcomed! 🙂 Check out my post on FreshChilliDeli for more banh mi goodness in a couple of bricks and mortar locations!
